4 Days – of lists and other minutae
What would the world be without post-it notes? Lately my life has become a collage of post-it notes, notes on scrap paper, notes on my body, notes on my desktop … you get the idea. I’m trying not to over-think the triathlon transition list. Right. But it seems that everyday, I make another trip to REI and/or Performance Bike. It’s great to get to know the clerks at these stores. With what I’ve spent, they should be getting a bonus.
I am 4 days away from the start of the St. Anthony’s Triathlon and the logistics and packing of ‘stuff’ is incredible. At the very first meeting with Team In Training, we were told by the marathon coaches that tri-ers are ‘gear junkies’. Not like I am a gear junky — bike computers, extra handle bar caps, two pairs of goggles, body glide, assorted nutrition, flash lights (you set up your transition area before the sun comes up), Co2 canisters, extra tubes, sunscreens, ant acid, extra running shoes, flip flops, Pam Cooking Spray, wetsuit, extra socks, butt buddr …. you get the idea. It’s a good thing I’m driving. We may need to bring two cars — one for the stuff’ and one for people.
I have to make another note: don’t forget to pack the ‘jells’ and to label my shoes, tag my bike, safety pins ….
